HUSBAND and wife Matty and Amie Smith took on a new challenge at the weekend when they ran the Brussels 20k, which has attracted thousands of competitors each year since 1980.

Like the London Marathon, the race has captured the hearts of those who line the entire route.

Amie, now a first-claim member of the Cheshire Dragons club and second-claim for Prestatyn Running Club (PRC), was delighted with her finishing time of 1-15.48.

While Matty, PRC men’s captain, was also pleased with his 1-50.18, considering he is still working his way back to fitness.

And four days later, Martin was on his travels yet again, setting a new M70 record of 21.30 in the Roberts Park Parkrun in Saltaire, Yorkshire.

A total of four other club members also set new personal best in the weekend’s parkruns, including Steve Stocker, who had an outstanding run in the Nova event.
