THERE was a smaller contingent than usual from Prestatyn Running Club in Saturday (April 16)'s Easter 5km run on Llandudno promenade but conditions were ideal.

Andrew Bromley, who has a good record in the event in recent years, pulled out near the halfway stage after strong performances in two races in the previous seven days.

It was left to Alex Ryder to lead the red vests home and he did so brilliantly, finishing fifth overall in a superb 17.01.

Gordon Jones produced probably the outstanding run of the whole event, coming 10th overall and winning the M60 class in 18.20.

The club's three representatives in April 13's “Chester Spring 5” race all had good reason to be delighted with their performances.

The race always attracts a good-quality field, and Andrew Bromley and Ben Williams continued their good form. Andrew finished 21st in 27.41, with Ben 32nd in 28.47.

Sadly, next weekend's North Wales Road Relay Championships, which were to have been held in Llandudno, have been cancelled because of the slow response from clubs in entering teams.
