WITH most 5km parkruns in the region cancelled on Christmas Day, Prestatyn Running Club’s prolific racing supervet, Martin Cortvriend, had to travel once again to Bala to find a competition.
It proved worth the effort, as he finished seventh overall in the Pont-y-Bala event with a time of 21.32, but he also had the satisfaction of breaking the M65 course record, which he himself had set in 2019.
Cat Prestwich did not have to venture as far, for she did the parkrun in her home town of Crewe, coming 113th in 29.48.
On Boxing Day, Julie Evans was the club’s only representative in the popular ‘Round the Walls’ race in Chester.
Her time of 49.23 (Strava running time of 48.03) put her in 399th place.
Meanwhile, the tighter COVID-19 restrictions have led to the cancellation of next week’s North Wales cross-country championships which were to have been held in Wrexham.
A decision has yet to be made about the next league fixture in Colwyn Bay on January 22.
