Women gathered for a menopause masterclass aimed at breaking stigma and empowering attendees to prioritise their health.

The event, hosted by Spire Abergele Clinic in partnership with The Kinmel and Kinspa, marked Menopause Awareness Month.

It focused on providing education, support and practical advice for women navigating menopause.

Dr Lucy Mather, a menopause specialist who led the session, said: "I believe every woman deserves to understand what's happening to her body and feel confident making decisions about her health.

"Menopause can affect so many aspects of a woman's life, but with the right information and support, women can make informed choices that protect their health, improve their wellbeing and help them maintain their independence for years to come.

"That's what I'm passionate about, and seeing so many women come together, eager to learn and take charge of their health, is exactly why events like this matter."

Forty-five women from across North Wales and surrounding areas, including Chester and Bala, attended the masterclass.

The event featured an educational talk, an interactive Q&A session and a range of wellbeing activities.

Attendees were offered complimentary health checks, hand massages, guided meditation and refreshments, along with wellbeing goodie bags.

The evening was designed to foster open conversation in a supportive setting, helping to dismantle the stigma often associated with menopause.

One attendee said the sense of community and understanding made a big difference.

She said: "Menopause can often feel quite isolating, but being surrounded by other women who understood what I was going through was incredibly reassuring.

"The topic of HRT can be confusing and overwhelming, but Dr Mather’s ‘one size does not fit all’ approach clearly explained the treatments that are available to women, and how to access them.

"She is extremely knowledgeable and I really felt that she was passionate about encouraging us to take control of our own menopause journey and advocate for ourselves to obtain the best possible care."

The Menopause Masterclass is part of Spire Abergele Clinic's wider commitment to women’s health across North Wales.

The clinic aims to provide access to expert advice and community events that help women make informed health decisions.

By creating opportunities for education, connection and support, the clinic hopes to continue empowering women to take control of their health and ensuring they feel listened to, understood and supported every step of the way.
