A VIDEO of “urban explorers” trying to gain access to a secondary school in Ruthin has circulated on social media.

The video shows the individuals at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, on Mold Road, seemingly under the false impression that the site is abandoned.

In the video the "explorers" question whether the school is open.

A simple Google search would reveal that the school is open and its term dates.

The school faces Ruthin School, which closed earlier this year.

Denbighshire County Council said it is aware of the video and is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The council is aware of the video posted on social media of individuals attempting to gain access to the school site.

“We are working closely with the school to review the circumstances and check that all appropriate security measures remain in place.

“The safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors is always our highest priority.

“We would also remind members of the public that school grounds are private property and should not be accessed without permission.

“Unauthorised access or trespassing may be reported to the relevant authorities where appropriate.”

The video was posted on the “Explore with Den” Facebook page, which has nearly 130,000 followers, on Sunday evening (October 25).

It has since been viewed approximately 33,000 times.

In July, an "urban explorer" was arrested on suspicion of burglary, following reports of them entering Abergele Eye Hospital and Ruthin School.
