A NORTH Wales Police officer was subject to a private misconduct hearing after their own “discreditable conduct” led to criminal proceedings.
A response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the force revealed that the officer, who was a constable, faced an entirely behind-closed-doors hearing on Wednesday, October 7.
The outcome of the hearing was that the constable would have been dismissed from their role had they not already resigned.
North Wales Police said the officer has not been named due to an “ongoing case” involving them, and to “prevent impact upon ongoing criminal proceedings”.
The FOI response added that the constable was the fourth North Wales Police officer since 2021 to face wholly private misconduct proceedings, without their name being made public.
The other three officers faced misconduct hearings due to “sexual conduct,” “honesty and integrity,” or “discreditable conduct”.
They all were also told they would have been dismissed if they had not already resigned.
In the case of two of them, in 2022 and 2023, North Wales Police said they were named “upon publication of the outcome, at the conclusion of the criminal trial”.
The other officer, also in 2023, was not named “to prevent the identification of the victim”.
