A MAN from Rhyl has been spared jail after he breached a restraining order by threatening his father.

Daniel Hillier, 37, was sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment, suspended for a year-and-a-half, at Swansea Magistrates Court on Friday (October 16).

Hillier, of Clifton Park Road, pleaded guilty to charges of breaching a restraining order and criminal damage to property during Friday’s hearing.

In August, Hillier was handed a two-year restraining order, preventing him from contacting his father, Stephen Hillier, after causing damage to an internal door belonging to his father.

But he breached this on September 18 when he made a phone call to his father, during which he made threats to him while under the influence of alcohol.

Hillier also admitted damaging a door, door locks and a towel rail on October 15.

The court heard that alcohol “causes issues” in Hillier’s life.

As well as receiving the suspended prison sentence, he was ordered to complete a 12-month mental health treatment requirement, while the length of the restraining order was extended.

Hillier will pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85.
