A HALLOWEEN fundraising day will take place in Rhyl, featuring a fancy dress 5k event and a party.
This has been organised by MindFight CIC, a Rhyl-based social enterprise focusing on improving the mental wellbeing of others.
The 5k event, which can be completed either by running or walking the distance, will start at Ffordd Las Community Centre at 11.30am on Saturday, October 31.
People are encouraged to take part in the 5k while wearing Halloween-themed costumes.
Following this, the Halloween party will begin at the community centre at 12pm, and will involve games, prizes, and music.
All of the proceeds from the event will go towards funding MindFight’s work, which involves boxing coaching at founder Nathan Baker's gym, located behind the Rhyl Little Theatre, and outdoor activities such as mountain walks and fishing.
Nathan, who set up MindFight CIC, said: “People don’t have to take part in the 5k to go to the Halloween party.
“But the more people we can get in fancy dress in the 5k, the better.”
MindFight’s four-week programme comprises one activity a week, while the 12-week scheme includes two or three a week.
The programmes also involve one-hour gym sessions, 10,000-step walks, and full-day outdoor activities.
It is designed to build confidence, discipline and resilience, and improve fitness and physical health, as well as helping people make new friends and challenge themselves.
Nathan previously told the Journal that he wants to “change lives” through MindFight.
“I’m about spreading positivity; one of my aims is to try change negative mindsets,” he said in September.
