FANCY spending Halloween shambling through one of North Wales' most famous landmarks while terrifying unsuspecting visitors?
Gwrych Castle is looking for volunteer zombie scarers to help bring its spooky Halloween events to life, and no previous undead experience is required.
The Abergele landmark has launched a recruitment drive for zombie volunteers aged 16 and over, promising would-be walkers training, costume-making sessions and professional make-up to complete the transformation.
Applicants will need to attend a workshop and audition on October 12, followed by a rehearsal on October 23, before taking part in at least one scare date between October 24 and November 1.
In a Facebook post, the castle challenged people to "dare to scare" and invited anyone interested to email to info@gwrychcastle.co.uk with the subject line: "I wanna be a zombie".
The role might be one of the more unusual volunteer opportunities in North Wales, but the dramatic setting certainly helps.
Standing on a wooded hillside overlooking the North Wales coast, Gwrych Castle is a Grade I-listed 19th-century country house built between 1812 and 1822.
Over the years it has become one of the region's most recognisable landmarks and is undergoing a long-term restoration programme.
The castle shot to national fame when it became the home of ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead of heading to the Australian jungle, celebrities tackled Bushtucker Trials at the castle for two consecutive series in 2020 and 2021.
Now, while there may not be any reality TV stars around, the castle is hoping to recruit a fresh army of zombies ready to stalk its grounds and send Halloween visitors running for cover.
Anyone under 18 taking part must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over at all times.
