A FILM which came a record-breaking box office hit in North Wales has been nominated for six nominations in the Bafta Cymru awards.
Madfabulous, shot in Anglesey and directed by Celyn Jones, enjoyed remarkable success in cinemas across Wales. It became Pontio Arts Centre in Bangor's highest-grossing film of the year, with the film outperforming major Hollywood releases at the cinema.
The visually extravagant and beautifully shot film explores the real-life story of Henry Paget, the 5th Marquis of Anglesey - an aristocrat remembered for his lavish lifestyle, theatrical flair and refusal to conform to society’s expectations.
The production was filmed at Plas Newydd - the ancestral home of the 5th Marquess of Anglesey, situated on the banks of the Menai Strait.

Scenes were also shot in Glynllifon Estate (Plas Glynllifon) near Caernarfon, Pwllheli and Penrhyn Castle in Llandygai.
Under Salt Marsh, a crime thriller that features the The Gazelle Hotel in Menai Bridge and attracted 1.8 million viewers in its first seven days, is also up for three nominations.
Welsh TV presenter Owain Wyn Evans, who will host the ceremony, said: "I’m absolutely over the moon to be back hosting the BAFTA Cymru Awards. I had such a brilliant time last year that when they asked me to come back, there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation.
"It’s such a joy to celebrate the incredible talent we have here in Wales, the storytellers, performers and creatives who continue to produce world-class television and film that makes us all so proud.
"I know it’s going to be another unforgettable night, full of well-deserved celebrations, a few surprises, plenty of sparkle and, if last year is anything to go by, some seriously fabulous outfits on the red carpet."
The BAFTA Cymru Awards, celebrating talent and honouring excellence in broadcasting and production across film and television in Wales.

The BAFTA Cymru Awards will be held in Newport at the ICC Wales on Sunday, October 4.
