Denbighshire County Council made an order effective for a six-month period commencing from 1 March 2026, which prohibited pedestrians from using the rights of way stated in the schedule below.
The reason for the closure relates to increased safety risks due to changes in the Network Rail timetable, which has led to increased train speeds and frequency.
The current Order expires on 1 September 2026. The Order will be extended for a further six month period until 1 March 2027.

Denbighshire County Council intends to make an order prohibiting vehicles from using Sandy Lane, Prestatyn in the County of Denbigh which extends westward from its junction with Bridge Road for a distance of approximately 100 metres.
The closure is necessary to facilitate construction of a new footbridge across the railway by Network Rail. Pedestrian access through the closed section of Sandy Lane will be maintained throughout the period of closure.
The alternative route for vehicles will be signposted via Bridge Road, Bastion Road, Victoria Road and Victoria Park Avenue.
The order is effective from 7 September 2026 for an eighteen-month period or the earlier completion of the works - whichever is soonest. The works are expected to last approximately until 27 September 2026.
