A PERSON was rescued after becoming stuck in mud at Talacre Beach following a multi-agency operation involving coastguard, fire and ambulance crews.
Flint Coastguard Rescue Team and Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the incident on Sunday (August 23), with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service also attending the scene.
After locating the casualty, specialist coastguard mud rescue technicians worked to free them from the mud before securing them onto a rescue sled.
With assistance from firefighters, the coastguard teams then used ropes to haul the sled across the beach to a safe location.
Once clear of the mud, the casualty was assessed by coastguard personnel and staff from the Welsh Ambulance Service.
Despite the ordeal, the individual escaped without injury.
A spokesperson said: "We are very pleased to say that, apart from being covered in mud, the casualty had no other issues and remained in good humour throughout."
Rescuers also praised the casualty for remaining calm and sitting down after becoming trapped, rather than continuing to struggle.
The spokesperson added: "The casualty also made the important decision to sit down rather than continuing to struggle. This was the right thing to do, as excessive movement can cause someone to sink further into soft mud."
Following the incident, the Coastguard issued a safety reminder for anyone who finds themselves, or sees someone else, in difficulty in mud, sand or the sea.
Members of the public are urged not to put themselves at risk by attempting a rescue and should instead call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
The service also advised people caught in sinking mud to remain calm, keep movement to a minimum where possible and wait for specialist rescue teams to arrive.

Talacre Beach is popular with walkers and visitors, but areas of soft mud can pose a significant hazard, particularly for those venturing away from established routes.
Rescue services regularly remind beachgoers to be aware of local conditions and to seek help immediately if they become trapped.
