WILDFIRES have caused devastation to natural areas across North Wales.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) has published images showing the damage caused to nature and the countryside by wildfires which wreaked havoc on the region for several weeks.
Areas of Halkyn Mountain became scorched earth amid a large emergency services presence at the site.
A spokesperson for NWFRS said: "These photos were taken at the scene of wildfires in the Rhinogydd mountain range, the mountain above Capelulo and Pentre Halkyn which show the devastation that has been caused by these fires in recent weeks.
"We are urging people who are planning to enjoy the countryside this weekend to do so responsibly and help protect our communities, wildlife and natural environment.
"Do not light campfires, fire pits or disposable barbecues in the countryside.
"Do not leave litter behind. Glass bottles, cans and other rubbish can contribute to fires and put communities, wildlife and firefighters at risk.
"Do not discard cigarettes on the ground or throw them from vehicles.
"Wildfires can spread rapidly and cause significant damage. Every wildfire has the potential to put lives, property and the environment at risk.
"Please be responsible and help prevent them. Together, we can keep North Wales safe.
"If you see a wildfire, move to a safe place, call 999 and ask for the Fire Service."
