A youth theatre group is stepping into the spotlight as they take on Macbeth.
Rhyl Little Theatre Youth Group is presenting a contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s classic, marking a significant milestone as their first-ever full-scale play produced entirely by its young members.
Every aspect of the production has been managed by the group, including directing, producing, stage management, and organisation.
Curtis Fisher, manager at Rhyl Little Theatre, said: "This production has been an incredible opportunity for our Youth Group to take ownership of every aspect of creating a play.
"From the earliest planning meetings through to rehearsals and performance week, they have worked tirelessly to bring their vision of Macbeth to life.
"We couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved."
Led by Joseph Williams, the cast features 14 young people aged 15 to 21.
The group has developed a modern and atmospheric interpretation of Macbeth, exploring themes of ambition, power and prophecy.
Audiences can expect a fresh perspective on Macbeth’s fateful encounter with the three witches, which sets him on a path of destruction.
The production is the result of months of preparation, teamwork and commitment from the group, who have taken on all elements of theatre-making to reimagine the classic tale.
Their dedication highlights the opportunities Rhyl Little Theatre offers to help young people develop artistic and technical skills both on and off stage.
Macbeth is scheduled to be performed on Friday, August 21, 2026 and Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Rhyl Little Theatre.
