THE annual Prestatyn Carnival and High Street parade returns to the town this weekend, with a packed programme of entertainment for people to enjoy.
Taking place on Saturday (July 18), the parade will set off from the top of High Street at 12pm, travelling through the town centre to Bridge Road, over the railway bridge, and up Bastion Road.
At the bottom of Bastion Road, it will turn right into Beach Road East and enter the carnival field via Beach Close (the carnival field on Bastion Road opens at 11am).
This year’s Mayor’s Theme Award is centred on “The Wonderful World of Disney,” with a first prize of £250 and the mayor’s trophy, and the runner-up winning £100.
Entry to this category costs £10, while all other classes, including best charity or school entry, best business entry, and best fancy dress, are free to enter.
Judging will begin at 11.30am before the parade sets off, with a range of trophies and certificates across the different categories.
The carnival field will host a full day of activities and entertainment, while the funfair is open daily from July 17 to 21, between 12-7pm.
Attractions include performing arts organisations, majorette and Morris dancing competitions, children’s entertainment, a funfair, a craft tent, exotic animals, donkey rides, paintball, a tombola, bouncy castles, and food, drink, and retail stalls.
Entry to the field is free, with on-site parking available for £2 per vehicle.
The event is sponsored by Prestatyn Town Council.

12.45pm - Holywell Brass Band
1.40pm - Singsation Pop Choir & Festival Community Choir, Towyn – “Do Disney”
2pm - Baby of the Year (0-11 months and 12-24 months categories) and Child of the Year (2-5 years categories for boys and girls) competitions.
Check-in at the entrance to the arena from 1.30pm; entry fee £2 per child. Silver cup and certificate for winners, medal & certificate for runners-up (baby of the year). Medal and certificate for winners and runners-up (child of the year).
2.30pm - Pageant of visiting queens, coronation of Prestatyn Carnival Royal Family 2026 by the mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden; Cllr Anton Sampson, and 68th North Wales Empress of Carnival contest.
4pm - Presentation of the Mayor’s Theme Award Trophy and parade winners’ trophies.
