PEOPLE have been sharing their memories of a former wedding venue in Flintshire which has sold at auction.

In March of last year, it was confirmed that Harrison's Hall, in Gwernymynydd near Mold, was due to close.

The venue had only re-opened two years earlier in April 2023 in place of the former hotel Plas Hafod which stopped trading the month prior.

Cappacavella Leisure Ltd then took over the site to open Harrison's, which was run by Harrison Buckley.

But, the venue closed again from March 2025 in a move that left couples who were planning to tie the knot at the venue that year 'shocked' and 'panicked'.

Then, the site was listed for sale at £750,000, but could not find a buyer and was sent to auction instead.

An auction was held by BTG Eddisons Property Auctions on June 22 with the bidding starting at £395,000.

After 15 bids in total, it was eventually sold for a price of £441,000, the day after on June 23.

Many of you have been re-calling the time you spent at the venue.

Mold town councillor Nanette Davies told us; "Always my favourite place. When my children were young back in the 1980's, we used to have a bar snack in the entrance.

"Many happy hours and many special occasions enjoyed there. I hope that it can reopen and have a new life."

Lynda Wilson added: "Really miss the Plas Hafod . Both my daughter and son's weddings were there. Many family gatherings. Beautiful place."

Wendy Howshall said: "My daughter had her wedding there and she had a photo on the wall inside for years, lovely place."

Joan Mobbs added: "Had my mum's 90th birthday celebrations there, they made such a fuss of her and the food was beautiful. Also went there for Christmas parties, they did a wonderful Christmas dinner and we danced the night away. Such lovely memories of the Plas Hafod."

Colleen Fitzgerald said: "Remember going to restaurant there seven years ago - best steak ever."

David Humphreys told us: "Some very special memories for my family in that place, loved it as Plas Hafod."

Dawn Rochford said: "Had my wedding there in 1984."
