SEVERAL schools in Denbighshire have been forced to close today due to extreme heat.
The UK's June temperature record could be broken for the second day in a row as a spell of extreme heat continues.
A rare red warning for extreme heat remains in place in parts of Wales.
According to Denbighshire Council, the following schools are closed in come capacity today due to the heat:
- St. Brigid's School, Denbigh - Closed due to no toilet provision in the primary school. Open for years 7-13
- Ysgol Dewi Sant, Rhyl - The school is closed as there is a limit to cool areas within the school building, because of it being used as a polling station
- Ysgol Y Parc, Denbigh - This school will be closed at 12:30pm (after lunch) due to the extreme heat warning. Please arrange to collect your child from the school at 12:30pm.
- Ysgol Glan Clwyd - closed from 2pm - the school has informed parents that school transport will pick up pupils from 2pm amid an amber heat warning
