A SCHOOL in Rhyl is to close to its pupils due to the hot weather.
Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant, on Rhuddlan Road, will be shut on Thursday (June 25).
An amber heat warning is in place for North Wales until at least Thursday.
A letter to parents and carers read: "The governing body has had to make the very difficult decision to close the school tomorrow.
"This decision has been taken due to the exceptional weather conditions forecast and restriction of cool, safe spaces tomorrow due to factors beyond the school's control.
"This is because the school will be operating as a polling station.
"The capacity of the building and the spaces available to us to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils will be significantly restricted tomorrow.
"Having carefully considered all relevant factors, we do not believe it would be appropriate or safe to open the school.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to you as families.
"We hope that you will understand that this was a very difficult decision, and that the welfare and safety of our children have remained at the heart of our considerations throughout."
