SEVERAL schools across the region have relaxed their uniform policies in response to the hot weather.
At Prestatyn High School, pupils have been allowed to wear their own clothes this week, with the temporary measure remaining in place until Friday, June 26.
A letter to parents said: "Due to the extremely high temperatures this week and the amber heat alert, we have taken the decision to allow all pupils to wear their own clothes from Tuesday until Friday this week.
"Pupils taking part in PE lessons will still require their PHS kit. This is to ensure the comfort of all pupils due to the extreme weather. We expect all pupils back in full uniform next Monday, June 29.
"We will monitor this carefully."
Pupils are also being encouraged to dress appropriately for the warm weather, bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated, and apply or bring sunscreen where necessary.
The rare Amber weather warning for 'extreme heat' is in force for North Wales until 11.59pm on Thursday (June 25). Temperatures are set to reach up to 23C today in parts of Denbighshire and up to 34C on Thursday.
A Met Office forecast said: "Dry today with strong sunshine. After a warm start, temperatures will quickly rise to bring a very hot day across the region with light winds and high humidity into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 32 °C."
For Thursday: "A dry, warm and sunny start. Turning even hotter on Thursday with extreme heat continuing and high humidity.
"Perhaps a little cloudier at times in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 37 °C."
