FAMOUS paddle steamer the Waverley returns to Llandudno today (June 19).

The last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world will sail from Llandudno Pier at 1pm on Friday for a cruise to view North Anglesey and Moelfre.

There is also a cruise at 4.10pm from the pier, cruising past Llandudno’s Great Orme and Puffin Island.

The Waverley is in North Wales for a four-day visit (June 19 until June 21).

There is still a chance to buy tickets on board (according to the Waverley website).

The Waverley is no longer visiting Holyhead; The ship had been scheduled to sail from Holyhead on Friday, June 19 for a Holyhead to Great Orme and Puffin Island cruise.

However, Stena Line Ports is currently carrying out a major programme of infrastructure improvements at the port.

Stena Line Deputy Harbour Master, Michael Coates, said: "Stena Line Ports is currently delivering a significant investment programme at Holyhead Port to strengthen its infrastructure and future resilience.

"As a result of these essential works and the impact on our daily operations, we are extremely disappointed that we are unable to accommodate Waverley Excursions on this occasion.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to welcome you at another time. We would be delighted to showcase the port and its improvements in the future."

Any passengers with a pre-booking can transfer their ticket at no additional charge to any other sailing this year or next, even if it's a more expensive cruise option. Or they will be offered a refund.

There is limited availability left for North Wales sailings. To book, click here.
