Micropub plans for Prestatyn's High Street get the go-ahead

David Guinn, of TAPPS, Llandudno, applied to Denbighshire County Council for a change of use of 170 High Street, which was formerly Elevate Your Sole.

Planning consent for the development was granted by the council on Wednesday (June 17).

Mr Guinn proposes to employee three full-time members of staff at the micropub.

It will be open from 12pm until 11pm from Monday to Saturday, and 12pm to 10pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

Extracts from a green infrastructure statement, submitted as part of the application, read: “We propose to use the building as a public house in the form of a micropub.

“Public houses are fantastic community hubs, and the ethos of a micropub is enjoying good-quality craft drinks in the company of like-minded individuals, creating a relaxing environment in which people can feel part of a group, thus improving mental health and wellbeing.

“We envisage a quiet, welcoming micropub, serving a good proportion of local products which is enticing to locals and tourists alike.

“Our four other sites within Conwy county are very popular with tourists, and we believe this Prestatyn site will be also, due to its location and culture.”

The council granted planning permission on three conditions – that the development starts within the next five years, that it is carried out “in strict accordance” with the planning documents, and that it adheres to its stated opening times.

Elevate Your Sole closed on Prestatyn’s High Street in January 2025.

TAPPS has micropubs in Llandudno, Craig-y-Don, and Rhos-on-Sea “serving craft beers and real ales, both local and from further afield”.
