North Wales set for exceptional Bank Holiday heat

Remarkably, the UK is set to rival and even exceed temperatures in popular Mediterranean destinations, with the nation poised to be hotter than many parts of Europe during what forecasters are calling a potentially record-breaking warm spell.

Saturday will see temperatures reaching up to 22°C with largely sunny conditions throughout the day.

The Met Office indicates it will be another very warm day for most areas, although western coasts may experience some low cloud and patchy drizzle at times.

Overnight lows will remain mild at around 10°C, with clear spells developing after a cloudy start.

Wind speeds will be gentle, with maximum gusts around 17-18 mph, and pollen levels are expected to be moderate.

Sunday promises even warmer weather, with temperatures climbing to 26°C across the region.

The Met Office outlook confirms dry and settled conditions with plenty of sunshine, though the far northwest may see cloudier skies.

Rain chances remain very low at less than 5 per cent, making it an ideal day for outdoor activities.

BBC Weather indicates sunny intervals with a gentle breeze throughout the day.

Looking ahead to Bank Holiday Monday, temperatures are forecast to climb even further to 29°C across the region, with some areas of the UK potentially reaching 30°C.

This would be exceptionally unusual for May, with the last time the UK hit 30°C during this month being in Scotland in 2012.

By comparison, southern European destinations typically see temperatures of 24-28°C during late May, meaning North Wales could actually be hotter than Mediterranean hotspots this weekend.

The Met Office has confirmed that parts of the UK could reach highs of 33°C during the Bank Holiday period.

Overnight temperatures will also remain warm, potentially making for uncomfortable sleeping conditions.

Residents are advised to take sun protection seriously during midday hours and stay hydrated throughout the exceptional warm spell.
