RHYL Air Show will not be returning in 2026, it has now been confirmed.
The event, organised by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL) and typically held during the August bank holiday weekend, has not taken place since 2023.
Denbighshire County Council, which owns DLL, revealed this news in a delayed response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request from the Journal.
The Journal asked the council to disclose whether the air show is going ahead this year, and if not, why not.
In response to the FOI request, the council said: “The Rhyl Air Show will not take place in 2026, and there have been no discussions about the event this year.
“A search of emails only found one reference to the air show, to the effect that the funding stream for the event is capital-only and cannot support revenue costs, but partnership approaches may be explored separately.
“We do apologise for the delay in responding - this was caused by difficulty in finding information on the subject, as the air show is not going ahead.”
The decision not to hold Rhyl Air Show in 2024 was attributed to the Red Arrows' unavailability, while in 2025, it was put down to a lack of funds.
On the Red Arrows’ full list of 2026 performances, it says that the aerobatic team will be at Southport Airshow on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 (the bank holiday weekend).
This follows its appearance at the Clacton Airshow and the Sidmouth Regatta show in Devon on August 27 and 28.
As well as the Red Arrows, the 2023 Rhyl Air Show also featured performances from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Strikemaster Pair, Calidus Autogyro, and more.
