A WOMAN from Rhyl has pleaded for help from her housing provider after describing the block of flats in which she lives as “hell”.
Paris Nicholas, 21, has lived at a ClwydAlyn-owned flat on Edward Henry Street, but said issues concerning antisocial behaviour at the premises have been prevalent, but not addressed.
This, she said, is despite numerous complaints having been made to ClwydAlyn by her and other tenants in the block of flats.
ClwydAlyn said it is “committed to listening to our residents,” and added that it is “working to address” reported issues.
Ms Nicholas said: “The flat itself is amazing; it’s the people in the block that are the problem. It’s horrible; it’s hell.
“There have been smashed windows, antisocial behaviour, noise… police are constantly being called.
“One tenant is repeatedly allowing a homeless person inside, who on one occasion followed me up to my flat, which left me shaking.
“I’ve put in too many complaints to count to ClwydAlyn, as have other tenants, but nothing’s been done about it.
“It’s affecting my mental health in such a bad way. I’ve been put on medication for depression because it’s got so bad. I don’t feel safe where I am.”
Ms Nicholas added that “piles of open rubbish bags are left dumped” on the premises, and asked ClwydAlyn to move her to different accommodation.
She described the situation as “shocking”.
Ms Nicholas said: “I shouldn’t have to be worried about stepping out of my own flat and facing conflict. I should be able to feel safe.”
Her brother-in-law, Kai Western-Roberts, also said the issues at the block of flats have left her “petrified,” adding: “ClwydAlyn keep telling her: ‘it will get better’, but that’s all they say.
“Now, she’s petrified of being in there. They’ve let her down. Of all the promises that were made, we have not seen one of them."
In response to these comments, a spokesperson from ClwydAlyn said: "We take any concerns about incidents occurring at our properties seriously.
“We are committed to listening to our residents and our team is working to address issues which have been reported.
“We can't discuss specific circumstances, but any residents who feel they need support can speak to their housing officer or our customer service team, who are available and ready to help."
