THE BISHOP of the Diocese of St Asaph, Gregory Cameron, has shared his Easter message for the people of North Wales.
Bishop Cameron, who has served in the role since 2009, cited an exchange between Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene in the Gospel of John, where she is the first witness to his resurrection.
Bishop Cameron's Easter message read: "There's an amazing story in the Gospels about how Mary Magdalene, one of the close friends and disciples of Jesus, comes to the Tomb aggrieving for his loss after the crucifixion.
"She arrives and finds the Tomb empty - it's a shock to her and in her confusion she turns around and bumps into someone and says: "What's going on here? Has someone stolen the body of my friend and saviour Jesus?"
"The person she's bumped into is the risen Jesus.
"He says to her "Mary", and in that giving of her name she realises who it is and answers: "Rabboni, our teacher, it's you!"
"That intimate interchange is one which is offered to all disciples of Jesus, the Lord who calls us by name, and invites us to follow him, and to whom we are invited to respond, acknowledging him as our teacher, our guide for life and our saviour.
"Easter is good news - eternal life is promised, new life can begin again - and you and I are invited to join in."
