New traffic restrictions for parts of Kinmel Bay and Towyn

The changes, proposed under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will affect a number of streets in both residential and holiday areas.

Conwy County Borough Council said the proposed Order is intended to maintain the free flow of traffic and improve road safety. North Wales Police have requested changes to Gaingc Road and Sandbank Road, where parking in narrow stretches can cause obstructions all year round. Maes y Llan has been included to maintain consistency in the area.

Other reasons include:

• St Asaph Avenue: Changes follow road layout adjustments made for flood defence works, with planning approval obtained.
• The Square (South West): General disabled parking bays added following community requests.
• Residential streets in Kinmel Bay (Horton’s Nose, Park Avenue, Gwellyn Avenue): Restrictions to prevent visual or physical obstruction at junctions.
• Overnight motorhome restrictions (Horton’s Nose): To prevent obstruction and preserve the amenity of the area.

Key restrictions include:

Horton’s Nose, Kinmel Bay:

• North west side: From a point 19m north east of the access road to the pumping station for 34m in a south westerly direction. From a point 40m south west of the access road to Sunnyvale Holiday Camp for 54m in a south westerly direction
• Both sides: From a point 15m north east of the access road to Sunnyvale Holiday Camp for 29m in a south westerly direction
• South east side: From the access to Rhyl Yacht Club for a distance of 12m in a north easterly direction

Gwellyn Avenue, Kinmel Bay:

• Both sides: from a point 35m west of its junction with Holywell Crescent for a distance of 48m in an easterly direction

Holywell Crescent, Kinmel Bay:

• Both sides: from its junction with Gwellyn Avenue for a distance of 5m in a northerly direction

Park Avenue, Kinmel Bay:

• Both sides: from a point 11m from its junction with St Asaph Avenue for a distance of 8m in an easterly direction

St Asaph Avenue Kinmel Bay:

• Both sides: from a point 45m north west of its junction with Astley Court for 17m on the east side and for 53m on the west side

Gaingc Road, Towyn:

• Both sides: from its junction with Towyn Road to a point 10m south west of its junction with Sanbank Road, except from a point on its northern side 65m southwest of its junction with Sandbank Road for a distance of 61m in a south westerly direction

Sandbank Road, Towyn:

• Both sides: from a point 9m north west of its junction with Gaingc Road to its north western extremity
• From a point 4m south east of its junction with Gaingc Road to its junction with Towyn Road

Maes y Llan, Towyn:

• Both sides: From its junction with Sandbank Road for a distance of 42m in a south westerly direction and at its south-western end for a distance of 10m in a north westerly direction, and 18m in a south-easterly direction

Overnight Prohibition of Caravans and Motorhomes, 10pm – 8am:

Horton’s Nose, Kinmel Bay:

• Both sides: from a point 15m south west of the access road to the pumping station for a distance of 36m in a south westerly direction
• North west side: from a point 80m south west of the access road to the pumping station for a distance of 26m in a south westerly direction
• South east side: from a point 80m south west of the access road to the pumping station for a distance of 60m in a south westerly direction

The Square (South West) Kinmel Bay:

• North side: from a point 9m east of its junction with Llysfaen Avenue for a distance of 9m in an easterly direction

• Both sides: From its junction with Sandbank Road for a distance of 60m in a south westerly direction • From a point 62m south west of its junction with Sandbank Road for a distance of 42m in a south westerly direction and at its south-western end for a distance of 10m in a north westerly direction, and 18m in a south-easterly direction

Sandbank Road, Towyn:

• Both sides: From a point 9m north west of its junction with Gaingc Road to its north western extremity
• From a point 4m south east of its junction with Gaingc Road to its junction with Towyn Road

Gaingc Road, Towyn:

• Both sides: From its junction with Towyn Road to a point 10m south west of its junction with Sanbank Road, except from a point on its northern side 65m southwest of its junction with Sandbank Road for a distance of 60m in a south westerly direction

The turning area at the northern end of St Asaph Avenue:

• South easterly side: From a point 2m north east of its junction with St Asaph Avenue for a distance of 16m
