A WATER main has burst while resurfacing works were carried out on a bridge in Rhyl.
The H Bridge, located off Marsh Road, shut on Tuesday, March 3 until Friday, March 27.
But this afternoon (March 5), workers appear to have struck a water main, as shown in the attached photographs sent to the Journal.
A resident has told the Journal that their water supply has been “running really slowly” since the water main burst.
Another witness said: “We were washing and cleaning some of our vehicles in readiness for the school run, when we lost all water pressure.
“We could then see the large plume of water from our offices.”
A second witness added: "I was walking over the footbridge at approximately 2.15pm and noticed the water spouting due to the resurfacing work."
A text message sent by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to residents in the area, shown to the Journal, read: "Welsh Water would like to inform you that your supply may be off or you may have low pressure due to a third party damage to the main.
"Your supply should be restored later this evening. If you experience any discolouration, please run your cold kitchen tap until clear."
A Denbighshire County Council spokesperson said: "We understand contractors carrying out resurfacing work to the H Bridge in Rhyl on behalf of the council have disturbed equipment relating to the water supply mains, and this has caused an issue with escaping water.
"Management representatives of Denbighshire County Council, the surfacing contractors and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water have arrived on site and are currently assessing the situation.
"There is a possibility that the water supply may be disrupted over the coming hours and overnight.
"Any residents or businesses in the vicinity experiencing temporary loss of water supply should contact Dŵr Cymru for further advice and support."
A Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water spokesperson added: “Our crews are on site and preparing to carry out a repair to a water main damaged by a third party on the H Bridge in Rhyl this afternoon.
“We are working to try and get this done later this evening. Until it is repaired customers will likely experience low pressure or no water.
“We would like to thank customers for bearing with us while we get this repair done.”
This is part of Denbighshire County Council’s Welsh Government-funded road surfacing programme for 2025-2026.
The closure concerns the H Bridge and the adjacent Ffynnongroyw Road, with a diversion route along Warren Road put in place instead.
Access is still available to pedestrians while the road closure is in place.
