A MUM from Kinmel Bay who was caught driving while disqualified said she thought her ban from the roads had ended.
Julie Teague was stopped by police while driving a Kia vehicle in Rhyl in November.
Teague, 47, of Maesgwyn, was fined and handed a fresh driving ban at Llandudno Magistrates Court on Wednesday (January 14).
She admitted driving while disqualified and uninsured, and failing to surrender to custody (Teague did not attend court on January 5, as instructed to) during yesterday’s hearing.
Prosecutor James Neary said police stopped Teague on Russell Road in Rhyl on November 18, 2025.
When interviewed, Teague admitted driving the vehicle, but thought her ban had ended by then when it had not.
Representing Teague, Sarah Yates said she has various health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, scoliosis, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
This was Teague’s first conviction since 2021, Ms Yates added.
Teague, who receives Universal Credit, lives with her three teenage children, all of whom also have various health issues.
Ms Yates said Teague believed her driving ban had ended and she was insured to drive her car again.
Sentencing, District Judge Gwyn Jones ordered Teague to pay fines totalling £450, court costs of £85, and a surcharge of £180.
He also handed Teague a new 12-month driving ban.
“I’ve got to start all over again now,” she laughed.
“I’m afraid so,” District Judge Jones replied.
