A BAR in Rhyl will be changing its name once a large-scale renovation project at the premises is complete.
The Tiki Room, on Sussex Street, will become The Local from late March, once the development works are finished.
It plans to host more events such as DJ, cabaret and comedy nights, and acoustic sessions.
Leigh Wright, who manages The Tiki Room as well as other Rhyl venues The George and Ellis’ Vaults, said The Tiki Room will not close at all while the renovation progresses.
He said: “The Tiki Room should offer a choice of live music during the Saturday afternoons. I want it to be more attractive for people to come during the daytime.
“At the moment, it’s open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm, whereas on Saturdays, it’ll soon be open from 12pm.
“The roof has been done, the shop frontage will be replaced, and inside, there will be a small stage for vocalists and DJs.
“Where Ellis’ Vaults is focused more on live bands, this will be focused more on cabaret, so people will have more of a choice.
“We’ll have the same sound system installed here as at Ellis’ It’s a work in progress, but it will hopefully be done by the end of March.”
Ellis’ Vaults, at 42-44 Water Street, opened last March, following a refurbishment of the Grade II listed building in which it is based.
It is open from 12pm, seven days a week, with live music every Friday night.
