A church at the heart of the community has celebrated it's 180th anniversary.
Mostyn Christ Church celebrated the milestone with a communion service at the weekend.
After the service, an exhibition of photographs was displayed showcasing the history of Mostyn, alongside a register of burials, marriages, and baptisms that have taken place on the church’s grounds.
The church was consecrated in 1845 and underwent major improvements during the 1990s, which saw the introduction of meeting rooms, a kitchen, and pathways laid through the churchyard.
A war memorial was constructed inside the church building, and the organ is dedicated to the men who were killed during the First World War.
Gwylfa Williams is one of the churchwardens and attends the church with his wife, Jackie.
Mr Williams said: “The milestone of the anniversary is very important for its members and the wider community as it was under threat of closure a few years ago.
“Following public meetings, a way forward has been found, and Mostyn has been joined by other churches.”
Many other churches and chapels have closed in the area, with new members travelling from former churches in Flint and the Flint Mountain area.
The church now carries the responsibility of being an active and vital part for the local community.
Mr Williams added: “The rector maintains a link to the local school, Ysgol Bryn Pennant, whose pupils performed a Christmas concert at the church last year.”
Recent fundraising events have helped support the community, including an Elvis tribute night held by Rev. Wynne Roberts BEM, which raised funds for the church.
It is still used regularly for weddings, baptisms and funerals.
Weekly services take place at 9.30am, and bilingual Welsh/English services occur once a month.
