JULES Peters has publicly congratulated her 18-year-old son on passing his A-levels after a challenging few months.

Evan, son of late rocker Mike Peters, plans to pursue a career in music and will continue living in Dyserth with his mum and brother Dylan, helping to run The Red among other projects.

Jules, Evan, and Dylan, 21, have faced a difficult few months following the death of husband and father Mike Peters, frontman of The Alarm, who died aged 66 from blood cancer on April 29.

Thousands of fans from around the world gathered in Dyserth to pay their respects as Mike was laid to rest on May 29.

Posting on social media, Jules said: "It’s been a busy week but I just wanted to congratulate young Evan on passing his A Levels against all the odds.

"Evan made a decision some time ago that he wanted to graduate to the University of Life. This means he will be pursuing a career in music and helping to run the Empire.

"It’s been wonderful to have him by my side since leaving school, working hard and pursuing his dreams.

"He is certainly a chip off the old block, demonstrating a similar drive to his father.

"I’m very proud of the way Evan has handled life this year. He’s not afraid to shed a tear, raise a smile and most importantly being happy and grateful every day to have such an amazing Dad like Mike."

Jules also congratulated Evan’s girlfriend Lily.

"They’ve been together for three years and supported each other through the ups and downs of this wonderful life," she said.

"Lily is now off to the University of Manchester which of course is very pleasing to Evan".

Next week Evan, who attended Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph, will appear at the Greenbelt Festival, August 21 - 24, at Boughton House.

In a touching tribute to his campaigning father, Evan performed at Lytham Festival on July 6.

Mike had been scheduled to perform at the festival’s closing night before headliners Simple Minds and Texas.

Jules said: "Thanks to you all for being so kind and supportive to us as a family and transporting us through these moments in time."
