SCAFFOLDING has been erected at the SC2 water park on Rhyl’s promenade so that roof repair works can be carried out.
Since then, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), which runs the water park, has been working with loss adjusters and specialist surveyors to agree the repairs.
In June, DLL confirmed that SC2 would not re-open in 2024, as the damage had proved “more extensive than we first thought”.
The remainder of the building remains open, including its Ninja Tag arena and Adventure Play.
Last month, Jamie Groves, DLL managing director, said: “Once complete, we expect this work to ‘future-proof’ the attraction from similar damage, and deliver a more resilient facility for everyone.
“Although we are pleased that the remedial work is now moving forward, we still want to stress how devastated everyone at DLL has been to spend a summer without our much-loved water park, when it should have been at its busiest.
“As a company, the closure has naturally been upsetting for us, but we also appreciate how the disappointment has affected our staff, our customers and the wider community in Rhyl.
“As you can imagine, we’re very excited to be able to start looking forward, and can promise everyone that SC2 will be back next year, better and stronger than ever, and with a fantastic range of free and low cost community offers in the pipeline to welcome you all back.”
