FOOTAGE has been shared showing the moment a man from Abergele sprayed an aerosol into a lit flame outside his neighbour's door.
Steven Mercer, 41, of Marine Road, was sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment at Mold Crown Court today (September 19).
Mercer, who had previously admitted affray and arson, was jailed alongside co-defendant Paul Blood, 46, also of Marine Road, who pleaded guilty to affray and sentenced to a year's imprisonment.
CCTV footage, provided by the Crown Prosecution Service, shows the moment Blood knocks on the door of Adam Thomas' flat, before Mercer lights a flame and sprays the aerosol into it.
This took place on April 15 - earlier that day, Mr Thomas was in his room when he heard “banging on his door” and Mercer shouting at him to come out and fight him.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told the defendants that the aerosol and lighter was clearly used to “really frighten” Mr Thomas.
“It must have been truly terrifying for the victim,” Judge Rowlands said, labelling the incident a “revenge attack”.
The judge told Mercer he evidently “held a grudge” against Mr Thomas.
