LAST Wednesday (August 7) saw Abergele Harriers’ annual handicap race, with each runner being set off at a designated time with the winner being first to cross the finish for the 5k course.

Mark Mayers proved, despite a lack of races, that he’s in great form, running 22 minutes and 22 seconds.

In an exciting finish, Mark overhauled Sarah Brooks by eight seconds, Sarah running an excellent 23:28.

Just three seconds behind Sarah was a fast-finishing Sean McCormack, running a superb 19:56.

Fourth, a further 12 seconds behind, was Darren Battersby, who ran 24:18.

Fifth place went to Gareth Evans, who ran a creditable 23:55.

Fastest man on the day was Danny Williams, who ran an excellent 18:07, with the fastest lady Rachel Shipley, who covered the 5k in 19:30.
