FLOWERS made out of Lego were put on display at Rhyl’s Botanical Gardens yesterday (May 29).

They were created by Floss Barrett, 60, who founded Rhyl Building Bricks, and who has also had her flowers on display at the Liverpool Lego store and published in “Blocks” magazine.

Her exhibition of flowers at the gardens’ café were available for people to enjoy, free of charge, from 12-3pm yesterday afternoon.

Floss created daffodils using minifigure hair pieces, daisies from hair brushes, and geraniums from ladybird minifigure wings, plus lots more.

Having seen her poster on many Facebook groups, there were also visitors coming from further afield to view her creations.

The mayor of Rhyl, Cllr Cheryl Williams, visited the café to see Floss’s creations, too.

She addressed the visitors inside the café, saying how important the gardens and café are to Rhyl and its residents, and for the town’s future generations.

Floss started building Lego for physiotherapy for her hands, and it was after the release of its “botanical range” that she started building flowers.

It was 16 months ago when she and her friend, Holly, created the Facebook group, Botanical Lego Fans, which now boasts more than 16,000 members.

This exhibition returns to the Sussex Street Christian Centre in Rhyl on Saturday, August 3 to raise money for FairyBricks, who buy and donate LEGO sets to children in hospitals, and for Rhyl Foodbank.
