CONCERNS have been raised after a resident said he found drug paraphernalia and other litter at an open unlocked garage in Rhyl.

The resident, who asked not to be named, said he saw young children playing and “running in and out of the garage”, on Wellington Road earlier this week.

Police said that Denbighshire County Council and the property owner were informed to ensure the building was cleared.

“I was walking down the alley towards my house and some young kids playing there; they were about nine to 12 years old,” the resident said.

“They were running in and out of an open garage playing hide and seek, I think.

“I know the garage for a while now and it's never been secure. I looked inside to find a makeshift bed and a table with exposed needles left on top and other drug paraphernalia.

“I closed the door over, but there was no way of locking it. I then went to seek advice about making the sight safe.”

A spokesperson for North Wales Police confirmed: “Local officers were made aware and liaised with the council’s enforcement team and the owner of the property to ensure that the building was cleared and made secure.”
