NORTH Wales Police will be conducting further training drills at the Pontins site in Prestatyn tomorrow (May 16).

Earlier this month, a witness told the Journal that they saw “armed police” by the entrance to the Pontins park, on Barkby Avenue, and heard “gunshots”.

North Wales Police later confirmed that this was, in fact, a training exercise, as was the case at the park on May 7 and 10.

Another training exercise is due to take place tomorrow, with police warning residents there is "no need to be alarmed".

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "Our police officers often conduct important training to help prepare them for real-life incidents.

"This training is not in relation to any specific threat.

"A training exercise is due to take place tomorrow (Thursday 16th) at the former Pontin’s site in Prestatyn – a venue which we have previously used over recent weeks.

"There is no need to be alarmed - this is a secure and closed site which is managed safely by instructors.

"Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding."
