This month Ysgol Pentrecelyn celebrated its 150th birthday.
To mark this milestone the Parents Teachers and Friends Association have organised a number of events to raise money for Parkinson's UK (Cymru), the School and the Cylch Meithrin.
A concert was hosted by Victoria Pugh who was joined by Elis Jones, Teleri Sian, Tocsidos Blêr and Sara Baines, who were all past pupils of the school.
The audience enjoyed performances by Meibion Marchan, Côr Rhuthun and Côr Dyffryn Clwyd.
Dafydd Roberts, one of the past headteachers, also entertained the audience with memories of his time as head at the school.
Headteacher Andrew Evans took the opportunity to thank all of the performers for their support and their amazing performances and thanked all of the past pupils and our friends who attended for this important start to the birthday celebrations.
Dewi Jones, a past governor, parent and member of Meibion Marchan, asked if there were any past pupils or staff sitting in the audience to stand - almost a third of audience rose to their feet.
On Saturday, May 11, Mr Evans was joined by parents from the school to complete the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge.
They started from Ysgol Pentrecelyn at 4am, walking up Yr Wyddfa, then Cadair Idris where they were joined by some of our pupils and their families and then completed the walk up Pen y Fan by 9pm.
This fantastic achievement has raised almost £3,000 on the school's JustGiving page
On May 17, the school will be hosting an afternoon of entertainment by pupils, the 150th Raffle will be drawn which has been supported by a number of local businesses and this has raised in excess of £1000.
During the afternoon the children will be presented with a commemorative mug as happened in 1974 for the 100th birthday celebrations
On Saturday, May 18, there will be a family fun day, where there will be an opportunity for current, future and past pupils and our community to meet up, view old pictures and memorabilia in the school between 11am and 3pm.
Mr Evans said: "I am so proud and privileged to be leading Ysgol Pentrecelyn during this 150th birthday celebration year. We are so fortunate to be able to teach children in an area of outstanding beauty with a newly modernised and eco building for the next 150 years.
"Many thanks to Denbighshire for their support. Also, to the wider community who we work so well with in partnership."
