Carmarthenshire's military history will be the focus of a new book.
Dean Hollands has written an authoritative account of the county's military heritage, tracing it back to the Iron Age.
The book covers various historical periods including the time of Celtic settlement, Roman occupation, Viking raids, and Norman and English invasions.
It underscores the significant presence of remains of Iron Age hillforts, Roman forts, medieval castles, and Civil War defences.
It also acknowledges remnants from more recent conflicts including the Second World War, the Cold War, POW camps, and military hospitals.
Mr Hollands' work also honours Carmarthenshire's individuals who made military contributions, local battalions, the largest Welsh munitions factories in Pembrey, and war memorials.
The book, titled Carmarthenshire's Military Heritage, is set to release on May 15, 2024, and is priced at £15.99, offering a deep dive into Carmarthenshire’s fascinating military past.
