A Chester motorist caught driving dangerously in the city was also found to be over the drink-drive limit.

Mario Ribeiro, 40, had previously pleaded guilty to the two charges at Chester Magistrates Court, and the case was committed to Chester Crown Court for sentencing.

At the crown court on Thursday, April 25, Ribeiro, of Wordsworth Crescent, was handed a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

The court heard the defendant had been driving a Ford Focus dangerously on Liverpool Road, Chester, on March 14, 2023.

A breath test found he had 45 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35.

As part of the suspended sentence handed out by judge Michael Leeming, Ribeiro must comply with a 120-day alcohol abstinence order, where he will be electronically monitored.

He must also carry out 200 hours unpaid work, and he was banned from driving for 12 months. The defendant can then get back behind the wheel after passing an extended test.
