HUNDREDS of people took part in the inaugural Wrexham 10K over the weekend.

Close to 900 runners were involved in the race across Wrexham on Sunday (April 21), with the event proving very popular.

The race set off just after 9am where the runners embarked through the city centre, around Erddig and back.

Wrexham AFC legend Mickey Thomas was on hand to start the race alongside Mayor of Wrexham Andy Williams and JCB Transmissions Operations Director Craig Weeks.

Michael Young took first spot in the men's event with a very impressive time of 32 minutes and 54 seconds, while Carla Davies won the women's event with a time of 36 minutes and 17 seconds, which also secured her 6th place overall.
