FLINT TOWN UNITED’S preparations for their return to the Cymru Premier League have already started.

The Silkmen, who conclude their season away to Denbigh Town this evening, made sure of a top-two finish with Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Mold Alex and with rivals Holywell Town not gaining a tier one licence to make the step up, Lee Fowler’s side return to the top flight 12 months on from relegation.

In more positive news for Flint, top scorer Elliott Reeves has confirmed he will be remaining at the Essity Stadium next season.

He has bagged over 30 goals in Flint’s promotion campaign and boss Fowler told the club’s website: “I’m delighted that Elliott has agreed to re-sign for next season. I’m sure lots of teams will have been looking at him, but we’re delighted to secure his services again, and him wanting to stay at Flint is key business as far as I’m concerned.

“We have worked well together at our previous club, and especially this season here at Flint. I believe that Elliott has the necessary fire power to score goals for the club.

“He has already proved that, at whatever level he has played at, previously in England and now in Wales.

“He is certainly enjoying his football here this season, and it’s great to see him playing with a smile on his face, which is important to him, and he knows he is really appreciated by all the staff and supporters here.”

Holywell Town will be confirmed as champions if they can pick up four points from their two remaining matches.

Tonight, they travel to Porthmadog, who need a victory to make sure they don’t suffer relegation.

Wellmen boss Johnny Haseldin said: “We have been persistent since the turn of the year.

“The message has been not to look too far ahead. Play in the moment, doing everything we can when the matches come around.

“You can’t get carried away. You have got to be grounded and humble.”

Haseldin, the March manager of the month in Cymru North, added: “We want to finish as strongly as possible for these last two games. Our objective was to always try to win the league.”

Airbus, who will finish up in third position, will end their season away to Guilsfield this evening.

Team boss Mark Allen told the club’s website: “We set ourselves the challenge to win our last nine games and unfortunately fell short.

“It’s a testament to the other teams around us for having such a good win record and pushing each other.”

However, there has been positive news as Jordan Evans has signed on for another season.

Allen said: “Very pleased to get Jordan signed for next season. He has been one of our stand out players this season, making significant contributions to how we play and importantly assisting goals.

“Additionally, off the pitch he has shown a real hunger to drive players in making sure that we have kept momentum and kept challenging for the top spaces.

“I know it will continue into next season and as staff we all look forward to working with him and making sure the club challenge.”
