A CELEBRATION of culture, music and friendship which draws thousands of people to Ruthin is returning this June.

Ruthin Top of Town event will take place on Saturday, June 29 on St Peters Square.

KMT Group Ltd, who provide electrical, digital and renewables services in the North Wales area, are the main sponsors of the event this year.

Both the Top of the Town event and the festival week is in its 30th year; they started in 1994.

Festival Chair Gwion Tomos-Jones said: "We are deeply grateful to KMT Group for their support this year which will ensure the Top of Town takes place again for the benefit of the whole community.

"It is local companies like KMT, as well as other festival supporters such as LE Jones, IT Williams, Swayne Johnson and many others that keep the festival going year on year."

The event will feature bands such as Bwncath, Band Pres Llareggub and Shambolix who will perform along with schools and choirs.

The event will start at 1pm and will finish at 8pm. Entertainment will follow in the town’s public houses and other venues.

Jim Bryan, the festival committee Vice-Chair, said: "There is an extensive programme planned which includes everything from art workshops and folk music, to a classical music and a history lecture, to a poetry session and of course the events at Nantclwyd y Dre and Ruthin Gaol.

"We are particularly looking forward this year to celebrating the festival’s 30th year. However, we need more volunteers during the festival week coming forward to help to ensure the events can take place."
