A TEAM is working hard to bring one of Prestatyn's most popular venues back stronger than ever after heartbreaking damage caused by high winds and heavy rain this week.

Storm Pierrick battered much of the North Wales coast yesterday (April 9) causing flooding and damage, which saw homes in Kinmel Bay evacuated.

Damage has been caused to the Beach Hut Nova in Prestatyn, meaning it will close for a few days while repairs are completed.

It is heartbreaking for staff, who recently hosted a series of successful events for Easter and were gearing up for more this spring and summer, including the popular Ibiza Parties.

The team are determined that these events will go ahead - bigger and better than ever.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure which operated the Beach Hut, said: "The storm this week has hit us hard at Beach Hut, although we had prepared for the bad weather we did not expect the severity or the level of damage to one of our most popular destinations, it was unprecedented and quite frankly; heart breaking.

"We have worked so hard as a company on making Beach Hut the place to be in Prestatyn since we became a company in 2020, with our iconic Ibiza Parties, delicious takeaway and dog friendly restaurant.

"Luckily we have a very resilient team who love what they do; love this company, and will do their utmost to return the beach hut to former glories in no time at all. Unfortunately we have become quite accustomed to these setbacks caused by the weather over the past three years – losing facilities such as 1891 and SC2 for large periods when damaged by floods, high winds and storms.

"Please bear with us while we get back to normal, it might take us a few days to get things straight, but we want it to be right and we want to bring back the beach hut experience even stronger in DLL style. We won’t be beaten by the weather and we cannot wait to welcome you back to Beach Hut to enjoy a cocktail with our panoramic sea views, in what is the best beer garden in North Wales."

The damage caused by the storm has seen communities in Denbighshire and Conwy rally to help those affected.

Jamie added: "Thank you all for your kind offers of help, we are overwhelmed by the public support. A special shout out to our Facilities team, who in true DLL fashion, worked night and day yesterday putting everything in place to protect the Nova, and were out again this morning at the crack of dawn clearing up and putting the beach hut back together. Sion, Graham, Huw, Simon #youareDLL, and we are really proud of what you do – the DLL unsung heroes who make everything work behind the scenes."
