A TRIO of staff members at the Apollo Rhyl bingo club are to walk 50 miles in aid of a mental health charity, and in memory of one of their brothers.

Sarah Davis, administrator and chef at the club, will walk from the club to the Great Orme in Llandudno and back with colleagues Ben and Mandy on April 10.

They are doing this to raise money for the mental health charity Mind, after Sarah’s brother, Kevin, died by suicide aged 46 last November.

Those wanting to donate can do so by visiting Apollo Rhyl, on Brighton Road, with Sarah having already surpassed her £1,000 target.

She said: “It’s basically two marathons - we think it’s going to take about 14 to 15 hours! It’s going to be tough, but I think we’ll do alright; I’m not too worried about it.

“I was going to do it on my own, but Ben and Mandy said they’d come along with me to support me, which is really nice of them.

“I chose Mind because of my brother; we didn’t have any clue at all that he was feeling the way he was. We just want people, men especially, to be able to speak about how they feel.

“Mind have particularly supported my parents and my brother’s partner since he died; they’ve been a massive help to my family, so we just want to try and give something back.

“I didn’t think we’d ever have to use them, but then I suppose nobody ever does.”

If you would like support with your mental health, you can call Mind’s InfoLine on 0300 123 3393, or the Samaritans on 116 123.
