A POPULAR bingo hall in Rhyl which was saved after the company which owned it had entered administration will celebrate with a “new ownership party” next month.

Apollo Rhyl, on Brighton Road, was one of eight UK venues which was run by independent retail bingo operator Majestic Bingo before administrators were appointed last summer.

But in December, all eight of its sites were been acquired by Real Fun Group Ltd, which aims to become a prominent player in the UK’s independent bingo sector.

The venue will celebrate this with a special event at the bingo hall on Saturday, April 13, starting at 7pm.

Kevin McGinnigle, chief executive of Real Fun Group, said: "It’s been an amazing three months!

"Getting to know the team and seeing how hard they work each day to deliver a top experience has been eye-opening; I’m learning lots.

"It’s also extremely heartwarming to hear direct from our customers just how much it meant to them that we’re sticking around.

"We’ve plenty of work ahead of us, but from the couple of initiatives we’ve implemented already, I think it’s going to be a fun year ahead."

Real Fun Group now employs nearly 200 staff across 10 bingo clubs nationwide, positioning itself as one of the UK’s largest independent bingo operators.

Tim Bateson, of Interpath Advisory, had been appointed as one of Majestic Bingo’s joint administrators.

He said: “The successful acquisition by Real Fun Group not only preserves numerous jobs, but also ensures continuity for the communities these clubs serve.”
