A PERSON has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Prestatyn yesterday (March 19).

Police responded to an incident on Gas Works Lane at 7.13pm following a report that a man had sustained injuries after being confronted by three youths.

The alleged victim has been taken to hospital.

Witness Gerry Frobisher took the above photo of the police cordon in place this morning, at the bottom of Dawson Drive.

He said: “I saw the police car (as pictured) at 8.30am this morning when I came to work nearby.   It is still there now. 

“As a past mayor of the town, I would like to assure residents that the police have everything under control.

“Incidents of this type, where police have to cordon off areas of public areas, are extremely rare.”

Detective Inspector Kris Williams, of North Wales Police, said: “We understand three young males were involved in the incident.

“One suspect has been arrested and is currently being interviewed by officers.

“I am interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area of Gas Works Lane anytime between 6.30pm and 7.15pm on Tuesday, March 19, or anyone with information that might assist with our investigation, to contact us at the earliest opportunity.

“We are maintaining an enhanced presence in the area today for reassurance purposes.”
