Lois Slater, who runs Slaters Podiatry, said: “Heather was nominated for this award for her outstanding contribution to our business.

“On numerous occasions, Heather has gone above and beyond for our patients.

“For example, a couple of our patients were unable to get a taxi home due to availability, so Heather took them home, making sure they got home safely.

“She regularly telephones our patients to check they are OK and to see if they need any help getting to or from our appointments.

“Heather always greets clients with a warm smile, and is always happy to chat with them - this is so important to our clients as, sometimes, this is the only time they might see someone.

“We have only been open for six months and are so proud of how far we have come. We offer a professional, friendly footcare service to the local community.”

Slaters Podiatry, which is based on Vale Road, was also runner-up in the “new business award” category, and shortlisted for the “customer excellence” prize.

More than 150 people attended the ceremony, including business representatives from the finalists, their guests, dignitaries and partnering organisations.
