A MAN has been ordered to avoid alcohol after he drunkenly exposed himself at a bar in Towyn, before being found to be in possession of cocaine.

Alan Cox, 51, of Roughdale Avenue, Kirkby, was told to complete a 120-day period of monitored alcohol abstinence at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (March 13).

He had previously admitted charges of exposure and possession of a controlled class A drug.

The court heard that, on August 26, 2023, police were called by the bar manager at Lyons Winkups Holiday Park, who reported a male flashing his genitals at passers-by.

At least two females told officers that they had seen Cox exposing his penis and “generally being a nuisance”.

Cox was arrested, and a wrap of cocaine was found upon his person while in custody in St Asaph.

He had “clearly consumed alcohol”, the court heard, and “didn’t know if he had exposed himself”.

A man of previous good character, Cox was said to be “genuinely remorseful” for his actions, which were “not done with a sexual motive”.

Cox had gone to the bar to watch football and had “got involved with stupid banter with some Manchester United fans”.

Sentencing, District Judge Gwyn Jones told Cox: “It’s quite clear that your banter went beyond what is appropriate.”

A total of 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days will also be completed by Cox, as well as the alcohol abstinence period.

The judge told Cox: “Don’t try and blag it, because any attempt to blag the system will lead to a notification with the monitoring company.”
