A WOMAN who helps a range of communities in Rhyl has been named the winner of the “social responsibility” prize at the Rhyl BID Business Awards for the second year running.

Tracey Jaycock, who works as the Morrisons Community Champion in Rhyl and across Denbighshire, said she was “really happy” to win the same award again.

The third annual Rhyl BID Business Awards were held at 1891 Bar and Restaurant on March 5, celebrating those striving to help the town shine.

Now in her seventh year in the role in Denbighshire, Tracey has also helped with the Poppy Appeal for the same amount of time.

She said: “I’m really happy to win it again because I was up against so many people. It’s very heart warming – I don’t like losing!

“I think I do quite a lot in the community – I support foodbanks, community groups, schools, nursing homes; so, quite a wide range, and not just in the Rhyl area, across Denbighshire.”

In each of its stores, Morrisons has a community champion; colleagues who support their own communities.

Tracey added: “Morrisons give me the platform to reach out in the community to give support. I think it’s quite a rewarding job, because I get to help quite a wide range of people.

“I just like what I do, and to get paid for it is just an added bonus. Winning this just means I can continue doing what I do, knowing that people like what I do.

“I’m proud of all of the work I’ve done with all of the communities I support. Giving back to the community is the best bit.”

More than 150 people attended this year’s awards ceremony, including business representatives from the finalists, their guests, dignitaries and partnering organisations.

Tracey won one of 15 awards handed out during the evening.
